Join House of Ukraine as we dedicate our 65th Anniversary fundraising efforts to the Novovorontsovka Lyceum project in Kherson region.
Together with savED, an international charitable foundation working to restore life and hope in war-affected Ukrainian communities through education, social support, and infrastructure, we are helping to transform an underground air-raid shelter into a fully equipped learning space so that 489 children and 72 teachers can safely resume offline learning.
Novovorontsovka, a small village on the right bank of the Kakhovka Reservoir, has endured unimaginable hardship. Although it was never occupied, its closeness to the front line brought heavy shelling, widespread destruction, and the displacement of families. In the summer of
2022, both of the local schools were struck: one reduced to rubble, the other left without a roof and sports hall. While the community is slowly rebuilding, children cannot safely resume offline learning until an underground air-raid shelter is in place.
A bomb shelter equipped to be an underground learning center will not only protect students during attacks – it will restore a sense of normalcy, routine, and hope. It will give children the chance to experience real school life again: lessons, friendships, laughter, and the
joy of learning together.
