Today the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is even more critical. Russia is targeting Ukraine’s vital infrastructure and is leaving the people without heat, water, and electricity. This will be an extremely hard and frigid winter. With homes damaged or destroyed and with no sources of heat or water, tens of thousands are at risk of dying of hypothermia.
House of Ukraine’s campaign “Help Us Survive the Winter” ran from October 20th through November 8th, 2022 was very successful. We filled and shipped a 40 foot container with cold weather gear to help Ukrainians survive the next few months.
Material donations were generous but monetary donations for this campaign were limited. We are still fundraising to cover the shipping cost of this container, which will be around $8,000 when delivered to its final destination.
Also, since time is of the essence and shipping containers take a long time we found affordable sourcing options for different winter items in Europe, to get them to Ukraine as soon as possible. So, please, donate here to help us buy these items in Eastern Europe or even Ukraine (if available).
On some items prices are often lower than in the United States:
- $50 obtains two water filters
- $100 buys two sleeping bags rated to -20F
- $250 provides a family with a wood burning stove made locally
- $940 pays for a 8.5 kWh generator
