Koliada is the singing tradition of going caroling from house-to-house for winter and Christmas holidays to wish good tidings for the coming year.
Join us for casual weekly singing to warm up your voice for the holidays. All people of all ages are welcome to join, from new singers to those who have been singing koliada since childhood. Each session will provide participants with lyrics sheets in Ukrainian, Ukrainian transliteration for English readers, and translation into English. Participants are welcome to request their favourite koliada songs, or just come and learn songs prepared for that evening by the instructors. The repertoire is based on what individuals in the group want to sing, centering around the most popular Ukrainian koliada songs. Several opportunities to perform and carol house-to-house will be organized for December and January.
