Take a journey to Ukraine with live music, and experience the soul- relaxing sound of Bandura. Enjoy Ukrainian dance performances, songs, and a Ukrainian artwork exhibition, while creating your own traditional Ukrainian flower designs.

Contemporary Musicical Performance
U3zub (“Український Тризуб”) is an ethno-rock focused on showcasing and celebrating the breadth of Ukrainian musical culture. The band’s musical repertoire includes modernized renditions of traditional Ukrainian folk music, original compositions, and interpretations of the latest Ukrainian pop and rock songs. Band members include Oleksandr Dubovenko (Олександр Дубовенко) on vocals, Krystyna Stobina (Христина Стобіна) on vocals, Paul Filenko (Павло Філенко) on keyboards and bandura, Konstantin Dubovenko (Константин Дубовенко) on electric guitar, Mykola Brydko (Микола Бридько) on bass, and Mark Wilson (Марк Вілсон) on drums.
Discussion & Presentation
Paul Filenko, Konstantin Dubovenko, and Orysya Barua will provide an overview of Ukrainian history, customs, culture, and the current economic and political state of the country.
Traditional music featuring Bandura
Luke Lashchuk Miller is a bandura player and vocalist. A native of San Diego, he has been active in the local Ukrainian community his whole life. He initially learned bandura from the late Andrij Kytasty. He is a member of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus and is a cantor at the local Ukrainian Catholic parish.
Traditional & Modern Dance
Will be performed by members of the Ukrainian School of San Diego. The school meets regularly on Saturdays and special events and is for school-age children, from preschool and up. It was established under the umbrella of Ridna Shkola (the Educational Council of UCCA) which has more than 50 years of educational experience. Their mission is to teach and guide a new generation of Ukrainians, offering connections to Ukrainian immigrants’ heritage through classes and special events.
Art Workshop
Facilitated by Orysya Barua, an artist specializing in fine art, ethnic decorative design, murals, and needle felting.
