Giving Tuesday 2023
Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, this year falls on November 28th. We are asking you to continue providing much needed support for Ukraine. Even after nearly two years...
Margareta Storonianska, born in Lviv in 1997, is a celebrated Ukrainian bandura player, known for winning top honors at national and international competitions, including the Vasyl Herasymenko Bandura Competition (Lviv, 2018), Kyiv Cup (Kyiv, 2018), and Yevhen Stankovych Instrumental Competition (Kyiv, 2020).
Margareta made history as the sole bandura player to triumph in the international Prize Lanciano competition (Italy, 2019), receiving special recognition in the “Academic Instruments” category.
Trained at the Lviv Specialized Music School and the Lviv National Music Academy under Oksana Herasymenko’s guidance, Margareta excels not only in bandura but also in vocal performance mentored by Ruslana Kalin.
Currently an aspirant at the Lviv National Music Academy, Margareta’s research extends beyond bandura music to encompass ancient music. She holds the distinction of being the inaugural bandura player awarded the Gaude Polonia scholarship by the Polish Minister of Culture (Krakow, 2021).
Margareta’s concert career commenced at sixteen, with a debut at the Lviv National Philharmonic, followed by performances in various competitions, festivals, and concerts in Lviv and Kyiv.
An active participant in artistic projects, Margareta captivates European audiences as a soloist and member of YuMaVita and “Zoryanitsya,” showcasing a diverse repertoire that includes Ukrainian compositions for bandura, chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra, and adaptations of classical and contemporary pieces.
A defining aspect of Margareta’s concerts is her incorporation of Renaissance and Baroque music. Engaged in ongoing research and translations, she presents masterpieces by J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, S.L. Weiss, R. de Vise, and others.
