On Thursday February 23, 2023, San Diego’s House of Ukraine and The Spirit of Liberty Foundation, with the support and participation of the highest levels of leadership of the San Diego Community, will have arranged for America’s Freedom Bell to be rung to show support and resolve, not only from the San Diego community, but the entire Nation for Ukraine’s fight for Freedom.
Robert Modrezejewski, one of 64 living Medal of Honor recipients, knows what it means to fight for freedom and will be one of the first to ring America’s Freedom Bell.
The Bell will be rung 365 times – one for each day of the year since Russia’s unprovoked invasion, to honor the heroism of the Ukrainian people. The Russian invasion of Ukraine began at 5:00am on Friday February 24, 2022.
The House of Ukraine and the Spirit of Liberty Foundation are creating this important Ceremony that will begin The Bell ringing on the 23rd of February to create awareness to have Bells rung throughout San Diego and across America, and to continue Ringing Bells through Friday February 24th.
The Ceremony will be appropriately held in front of the San Diego Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park, a Bastion of Freedom that is a tribute to America’s Resolve to fight and prevail for Freedom around the World.
The Ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Yurii Sas from John the Baptizer Ukrainian Church of San Diego, and Father Myron Mykhayluk from St. Mary Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church of San Diego, providing a brief statement/prayer, and then ring the Bell, after which The Bell will then be rung by San Diego’s senior religious leaders Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Muslim.
The first group to ring The Bell, appropriately will be San Diego Ukrainians and Ukrainian Refugees. The Bell will be rung by Representatives of the San Diego Media, each of the Television Stations, Radio Stations and local newspaper and Print Media, and then a cross section of the leadership in the San Diego Community – government leaders, first responders, educators, corporate leaders and importantly, San Diego’s military leadership, both Active Duty and Veterans as well as the important people who keep the community moving every day i.e. employees of grocery stores, other retailers, utilities, restaurants, airlines and other everyday Heroes in their Company Uniforms. The entire Bell Ringing ceremony rung by 365 people will last just slightly over an hour.
Each of those who rung America’s Freedom Bell for Ukraine will receive a certificate attesting that they rang America’s Freedom Bell for Ukraine on this historic day, February 23, 2023.
